Description
Arterial calcification (AC) is generally regarded as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. To prevent vascular calcification sufficient amount of matrix GLA Protein (MGP) is required and also it should be carboxylated otherwise it is inactive. Vitamin D supplementation increases synthesis of GLA-proteins, whose activation depends on vitamin K-mediated carboxylation. Thus the combination of Vitamin D3 and K2 ensures inhibits vascular calcification and thereby reduces the risk of cardiovascular complications
